Excerpt from My Barney – Medal Story
This is an excerpt from a film that I made called “My Barney” for the Witham Film & Animation Festival.
The film was made in Barnard Castle with filmmaker Oliver Smith and shot, edited and produced in 1 day. Assisted by Annalisa Ward we invited local people to tell us about what made Barnard Castle special to them and to tell us anecdotes about the town. Starting at 8am, we travelled the length and breadth of the town talking to residents, business owners and shopkeepers. This included a newspaper printer, a tailor, a stage designer, a publican, a baker and a girl guide. We finished filming at 3pm and then cut the film at my studio in NeST before presenting it to an audience that evening.
This excerpt features Linda Aston, a Barnard Castle resident for 76 years. I was told about her story by one of her daughters and was very kindly invited to film her at her flat.
