Filmed Live Performance: Soldiers’ Hymn – from The Durham Hymns | Live at Durham Cathedral

A filmed live performance of Soldiers’ Hymn, part of The Durham Hymns – a powerful musical tribute to the people of County Durham during the First World War.

Composed by Jessica Curry with words inspired by regional wartime letters and poetry, this piece was performed in the majestic setting of Durham Cathedral as part of a commemorative concert marking the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.

The Durham Hymns project was commissioned by the Northern Regional Brass Band Trust and Durham County Council, with texts curated by Carol Ann Duffy. This hauntingly beautiful performance blends brass and choral traditions to honour the resilience and sacrifice of Durham communities.
