This screengrab is from a recent series of projections I created for “Rekindle – Amble Light Festival”, a powerful community celebration produced by Dry Water Arts in Amble, Northumberland.

The event transformed the town’s harbour and streets with a glowing mix of lanterns, light installations, movement, and live performances—offering a space for reflection, reconnection, and creativity.

My contribution to Rekindle was a series of immersive projections that incorporated footage of Misung Kim, a South Korean artist and musician —capturing moments from her workshops, performances, and interactions with the Amble community. These visuals were layered with archival textures and abstract motion to explore themes of renewal, cultural exchange, and the shifting coastal light of Amble. The projections responded directly to the atmosphere of the place and the human connections formed during the project, echoing the idea of rekindling both community spirit and creative dialogue.

I’m a filmmaker and videographer based in Newcastle and Gateshead, working at the intersection of documentary, visual storytelling, and creative collaboration. My practice is rooted in highlighting the richness of cultural life in the North East, and I often work with artists, heritage organisations, and communities to craft meaningful, cinematic responses to place.

Filming Misung and her work with the community of Amble brought an international layer to Rekindle, highlighting the festival’s broader aim of cultural exchange and connection between Northumberland and South Koreathrough collaborative art-making.

Together, these projects made Rekindle not just a festival of lights—but a festival of voices, stories, and shared experience. My thanks go to Dry Water Arts, the Amble community, and all the artists involved for making the event such a memorable and moving celebration.
