About Me
I’m Alan Fentiman, a filmmaker, videographer, and editor based in Newcastle upon Tyne. I produce thoughtful, visually engaging films for arts organisations, heritage sites, universities, charities, and creative businesses across the North East and the UK.
With over 20 years of experience in video production, I specialise in telling real stories through film—creating short documentaries, artist-led commissions, music videos, educational content, promotional films, and social media video. I work with clients across the arts, heritage, education, and research sectors to deliver high-quality content that connects with audiences.
Documenting the ideas, practices, and people driving art, heritage, research, and creative change.
My approach is agile and unobtrusive. I collaborate closely with clients to create cinematic, emotionally resonant films that communicate ideas clearly—whether they’re shown on screen, online, or in gallery and exhibition spaces.
I’ve worked with a wide range of clients including the BBC, Channel 4, Discovery Channel, Adobe, The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, The Sage Gateshead, Durham Cathedral, Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, The Hatton Gallery, The Bowes Museum, The Auckland Project, Maltings Visual Arts, Forma Arts, Vane Gallery, Northern Print. The National Trust, Historic England, Natural England, Northumberland Wildlife Trust, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and Forestry England.
My academic collaborations have included work with Durham University, Newcastle University, Northumbria University, University of Sunderland, University College London (UCL), and Cambridge University, helping researchers communicate complex ideas through accessible, story-driven visual media.
