About Alan Fentiman - Filmmaker & Videographer
I am a filmmaker and videographer based in Newcastle. I help people visualise stories and capture their passion, creativity and ideas. Clients include The BBC, Channel 4, The Discovery Channel & Adobe.
I have over 15 years experience shooting, editing and producing beautiful films for broadcast, cinema and the web. I don’t work with cumbersome cameras or an imposing crew. I work with you.
I am based in Newcastle where I specialise in documenting arts projects across the North-East. I have worked with The Baltic, The Hatton Gallery, The Sage, Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, Forma Arts, Durham Brass Festival, Maltings Visual Arts, Northern Print, GIFT, The Bowes Museum, The Auckland Project and Vane Gallery.
Most of my films are collaborative, working with artists, musicians and writers. I have had the pleasure of working with David Almond, Benjamin Myers, Bill Drummond, Don Letts, Scanner, Stephen Chambers, Dominic Wilcox, Hilary Paynter, Dryden Goodwin, Lemn Sissay, Ed Carter, Holly Gramazio, Jamie Shovlin, John Kefala-Kerr, Julian Meredith, Tony Williams, Stephen Mathewson and Tom Hammick.
I have also made documentary films with academics from The University of Cambridge, Durham University, The University of London, Newcastle University, The University of Oxford and The University of Sunderland.
My passion for nature and heritage has led to collaborations with The National Trust, Historic England, Natural England, Northumberland Wildlife Trust, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and Forestry England.
I also work with young people, run filmmaking workshops and help organisations and creative people make beautiful films for the web.
