Neon – Behind The Art

“This is just the start of our journey with augmented reality.” – Neon – Behind The Art

In this short documentary, filmmaker Alan Fentiman captures the innovative spirit of Neon, a creative practice based in Berwick-upon-Tweed, as they explore the possibilities of augmented reality through their latest project built using Adobe Aero.

Known for their large-scale architectural and sculptural works, Neon has developed a bold new digital experience inspired by the vast beauty of the Northumberland coastline. Through augmented reality, they’re now inviting global audiences to step inside their work—bending form, scale, and materiality in ways that were once impossible.

Created as part of a digital Lantern Festival, the project allows users to launch their own virtual lanterns into a shared three-dimensional space, accessible from anywhere in the world. The experience offers a moment of reflection, participation, and playful curiosity—core to Neon’s ethos.
